Sintel Systems has a long history of serving the frozen dessert industry. We have the fortune of working in some of the most delicious industries out there. We still love those frozen delights as much as we did when we were kids looking forward to the next gelato (I personally prefer sorbet), ice cream, or frozen yogurt and of course smoothies. While gaining the trust and relationship of new gelateria makes our business succeed, it gives another tastier benefit.

Lately, we’ve received a high number of calls from current and potential Frozen Yogurt business owners asking about Tare Weights. The main question is do I have to tare my software for frozen yogurt, or any other weighted item, in my state?

Sure, we have a vast knowledge about computers, technology, point of sale systems and software, and the frozen yogurt industry. However, due to the rapid change in state legislatures, we cannot keep up with all 50 states. You would need to check with your local Department of Weights & Measurements offices for specifics to your state.

Step 1: Go to Operation Management
Step 2: Go to Basic Settings, choose Other Settings sub menu, and choose System Codes Management.
Step 3: Scroll to “Tare”.
Step 4: Label the weight and enter the weight displayed on your scale when you put your cups on.
Step 5: Go to Menu Management and select your Frozen Yogurt menu item(s).
Step 6: Check the applicable Tare Weights (or Select All).
Step 7: Save and Exit Operation Management

Joplin Tornado Takes Frozen Yogurt POS System from Yogurt Shop

Sunday, May 20th, was a devastating day for Joplin and it’s residents. Open only for a couple weeks the CherryBerry Frozen Yogurt location in Joplin took a direct hit and is now part of the disaster scene. CCN’s iReport website shows footage from the security cameras at the Frozen Yogurt Shop. In the video you can clearly see the counter where the two POS Stations were installed.

Once the tornado hits, both terminals along with the rest of the store are swept away just before the cameras goes blank. Luckily there were no injuries to people inside the store. As for all the POS Equipment, if the 600lb frozen yogurt machines are no where to be found, I doubt any remains of the systems will be found either. It seems like the Frozen Yogurt Industry is not slowing anytime soon. Although it feels like Los Angeles is saturated, we are no way close.  As for the rest of the country, they are just catching up.

Frozen Yogurt & Ice Cream Shops must have the three most important criteria to open as described bellow:

  1. LOCATION:  By far the most important.  The location must be exposed to morning, afternoon, and evening traffic.  Town centers and malls are a must, but more importantly the biggest money makers are near schools.  Specially when more then one school is within a near radius.
  2. PRODUCT QUALITY:  More and more people are becoming experts in frozen yogurt and ice cream tasting. Competition is driven by exotic flavors and ice cream types such as ice caps, and slushies.   More then ice cream and frozen yogurt, excitement is driven by the various possible toppings.
  3.
