Posted by TheTechGuy | Frozen Yogurt POS, Point of Sale | Saturday 30 July 2011 7:06 pm

Lately, we’ve received a high number of calls from current and potential Frozen Yogurt business owners asking about Tare Weights. The main question is do I have to tare my software for frozen yogurt, or any other weighted item, in my state?

Sure, we have a vast knowledge about computers, technology, point of sale systems and software, and the frozen yogurt industry. However, due to the rapid change in state legislatures, we cannot keep up with all 50 states. You would need to check with your local Department of Weights & Measurements offices for specifics to your state.

If you find out that you need to tare your cups, we can help! Our UP Restaurant software for Frozen Yogurt Point of Sale has made it easier than every to complete this in just a few simple steps.

The Step by Step Guide can be found here.

Where can I get a step by step guide on how to easily Calibrate my Frozen Yogurt Ounce Scale?

Posted by Edrik | Point of Sale | Wednesday 20 July 2011 9:15 am

Scales are an essential part of any Sell By Weight POS System. They allow the business owner to charge customers based on the weight of their purchase. These scales are therefore a very critical part of a successful sell by weight business such as frozen yogurt. Making sure your scale is always in proper calibration is an essential topic which the business owner must be aware of. Sintel Systems provides helpful step by step guides detailing the calibration process for our customers. These guides are provided to all of our customers in order to increase their knowledge of the way their POS System works.

Step 1: Plug in the scale to a outlet this will power on your scale. Wait for it to display a weight on the screen. Make sure the scale is free of any obstructions and does not have anything on or near it.

Step 2: Press the “SW-1” button, the display should read “DIAG”

Step 3: Press the “Zero” button until the display reads “CAL”

Step 4: Press the “Test” button to begin calibration. The display will now show the unit of measure it is being calibrated for. You want to calibrate it for ounces, if the display shows ounces press the “Test” button to continue. To change the unit of measure to ounces, press the “Zero” button until Ounces is displayed.

Step 5: The display will now show the currently selected capacity. It should read “160×0.1” if it does not, press the “Zero” button to scroll thru the available options, when “160×0.1” appears, press “Test” to select it.

Step 6: Clear all items away and off of the scale. Now press the “Test” button. After a few seconds the display should read “Load 10”

Step 7: Place the 10lbs Calibration weight onto the scale and press the “Test”

button. The display should read “Done” after a few seconds.

Step 8: Press the “SW-1” button on the scale, this will perform a countdown and return to normal weighing mode.

Congratulations your scale is now calibrated and ready for use.

Here at Sintel Systems we are dedicated to providing support on hardware, software, and other services such as helping you keep your business operating at a high efficiency. One way to maintain a superior level of up time in frozen yogurt shops is to have your own Scale Calibration Tool available.  Scales need calibration every 12-18 months depending on their usage, some more frequently used scales can sometimes need calibration as frequently as every 3 months. Sintel System is the leader in Point of Sale and Surveillance. We specialize in business automation and help mom and pop shops to become modern companies driven by technology. Unfortunately most business models do not account for Point of Sale and Surveillance until the project has been completed. This makes installation difficult and ugly since wiring can not be hidden in walls.

When should you purchase your POS and Surveillance Systems?
Although POS and Surveillance are installed once the dust has settled from all the construction, it is still important to plan your POS and Surveillance systems in advanced. In order to have a proper functioning POS System, it is important to have the following two requirements:

  1. Dedicated Power Circuit
  2. Internet or Network Connection
  3. (click see diagram)

Yogurt with a Twist – Frozen Yogurt Point of Sale Provided by Sintel System

Posted by admin | Inventory Control, Point of Sale | Tuesday 12 May 2009 10:58 pm

Opening on Monday May 18th, 2009, Yogurt With a Twist is the newest and coolest Frozen Yogurt Shop in Southern California.  With frozen yogurt being the new Starbucks Coffee there seems to be one on every major street, except they are all uniquely designed with their own identity, character, and taste.  Since machines make the frozen yogurt, the major difference is in the experience you take from having a cold scoop of frozen yogurt topped with peaches and strawberry syrup.  Although toppings can be a major contributor to retaining customers, the experience is almost as important.

Yogurt With a Twist’s owner, Samhi Salty, is determined to making a statement in Studio City, California as he puts on the finishing touches getting ready for the grand opening.  Besides the furniture, lights, and music playing in the background customers demand still demand fast service.  After all who wants to wait for the frozen yogurt on a hot sunny day? I know I don’t, and with one frozen yogurt shop on every street it is easy to skip and go to the next one. “All our ingredients especially the fruit is cut fresh daily,” said Mr. Salty. “We take everything serious.  From out staff’s appearance to our stores cleanliness we are dedicated in providing the best experience in frozen yogurt today,” he added.

One factor Yogurt With a Twist expressed to Sintel Systems was the ability to process customers as efficiently as possible.  Mr. Salty understood the importance of keeping the customer happy by providing a smooth transaction process. “This is why we choose the weighted method of charging for our frozen yogurt. Plus the customer knows best what they want with their frozen yogurt, and processing the sale is very important.”
