Smith added "It's not every day that someone drives through a town here and throws out fists full of 20s, 10s and ones into the street. I think they were victims of their own success because all the traffic got backed up because so many people were in the roadway."
The suspects were finally taken into custody at 11:30 am when the chase ended as a large vehicle blocked the roadway.
Overhead video showed a large crowd of several hundred people quickly gathered around the scene as spectators were cheering and waving the suspects. Police were forced to request additional LAPD officers. According to Smith, "When they were ultimately taken into custody here, we had several hundred people swarmed into the streets and took over the intersection."
It is unclear if security camera video surveillance or CCTV footage of the actual robbery at the Bank of America exists. Any security camera footage would most likely be under review and investigation by law enforcement.
