According to the store owner, the store has been burglarized five times in the past year,  and added "They usually smash the window, but only with rocks never with a car." Th owners estimated the loss and damages at about $25,000. Miami Police stated that "Whether they ran or got into a car that was waiting for them, that we don't know."

Surveillance and CCTV video is being reviewed and compared by Police against other recent Miami crimes. Shutters used for hurricane protection are now covering the stores windows, but the store remains open.
